Bomb Hoax Alarms Indian Skies, Multiple Flights Diverted in Recent Days
A dramatic scene unfolded in the skies of India this week as multiple passenger flights were diverted over hoax bomb threats. The latest incident occurred on Wednesday when an Akasa Air flight from New Delhi to Bengaluru received a security alert, prompting the pilots to return to the capital as a precaution. The 184 passengers on board, including three infants, were safely evacuated at New Delhi airport.
This is the latest in a string of incidents involving bomb threats against Indian airline operators. According to Indian Express, 12 domestic and international flights have received such warnings since Monday, with all of them turning out to be false alarms. The police are working to identify the culprits behind these threats and authorities have assured that Indian skies are safe.
Other incidents include a flight from Mumbai to New Delhi being diverted to Ahmedabad, while a Singapore-bound Air India Express plane was also forced to make an emergency landing in Canada due to a security threat posted online. All of these flights landed safely, with Canada’s armed forces airlifting the passengers to their final destination.
The authorities have reassured passengers that these incidents are isolated and that the country’s aviation sector is secure. “Indian skies are absolutely safe,” said Zulfiquar Hasan, director-general of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security. Authorities are working closely with international partners to apprehend those responsible for these hoaxes and take strict action under law.
With multiple flights affected, air travel safety has become a top concern for many Indians and international travelers alike. While these incidents can be unsettling, authorities have ensured that the country’s aviation sector remains robust and secure. Passengers can rest assured that safety is the top priority for Indian authorities.
