Nigeria’s Satellite Technology to Combat Terrorism and Ensure National Security
Mrs. Jane Egerton-Idehen, the Managing Director of Nigeria Communications Satellite Ltd (NIGCOMSAT), has announced that the country’s satellite resources are being deployed to combat terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping across the country. Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Egerton-Idehen highlighted the collaboration between NIGCOMSAT and Nigeria’s security agencies to enhance safety and connectivity in remote regions.
The collaboration, which involves NIGCOMSAT’s partnership with the Office of the National Security Adviser, Defence Intelligence, and Space Administration, Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and other stakeholders, aims to ensure peace throughout the country. He reaffirmed RASCOM’s commitment to empowering African satellite operators, including NIGCOMSAT, to secure their positions in the global satellite market.
The event, which will feature the ‘NIGCOMSAT Accelerator Demo Day’ on Friday, will showcase innovative solutions aimed at transforming the space industry.
