Borno Police Recapture 24-Year-Old Escaped Convict Auwalu Aminu

In a significant breakthrough, the Borno Police Command in Nigeria has recaptured 24-year-old Auwalu Aminu, also known as “Auwalu Kirkir,” an escaped convict who had been serving time for criminal conspiracy and theft. Aminu was one of the inmates who escaped from the Medium Security Custodian Center in Maiduguri in September after devastating floods caused the prison’s fence to collapse.

According to ASP Nahum Daso, the Police Public Relations Officer, a credible tip-off led to Aminu’s recapture. Daso explained that the police received information that Aminu had been spotted in Banki town, prompting the Bama Area Command and Banki Divisional Headquarters to deploy a patrol team. On October 16, Aminu was successfully apprehended and is now in police custody.

Daso revealed that Aminu has been profiled and will be handed over to the Nigeria Correctional Service for further action. The Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Lawal-Yusufu, has reaffirmed the command’s commitment to public safety and urged citizens to report any suspicious activity or information about fugitives.

The successful recapture of Aminu is a testament to the dedication and efforts of the Borno Police Command in maintaining law and order in the region. The incident also highlights the importance of community involvement in ensuring public safety, as the tip-off that led to Aminu’s recapture came from a member of the public.

As the authorities continue to work towards ensuring that all escaped convicts are brought back to justice, the recapture of Auwalu Aminu is a significant step in the right direction. The incident serves as a reminder that the police are working tirelessly to protect the public and maintain order, and that the community has a crucial role to play in this effort.

The Borno Police Command’s commitment to public safety is unwavering, and the recapture of Auwalu Aminu is a demonstration of this commitment. As the police continue to work towards a safer society, the public is encouraged to report any suspicious activity or information about fugitives, helping to bring criminals to justice and maintaining peace and security in the region.
