Israel Issues Evacuation Call for South Beirut

Evacuation Alert Issued for South Beirut Residents

Residents of southern Beirut have been warned by the Israeli military to evacuate the area, a move that usually precedes military strikes. The warning, issued on Saturday, specifically targets residents of the Dahiyeh suburb, particularly those living in the Haret Hreik neighborhood.

According to a statement released by Israeli military spokesman Avichay Adraee on X, the area is home to facilities and interests belonging to Hezbollah, a group against which the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) will soon be taking action. The IDF has urged residents to leave the area in light of these impending operations.

The warning reads, "Urgent warning to residents of the southern suburb (of Dahiyeh), specifically those in…Haret Hreik neighborhood: You are located near facilities and interests belonging to Hezbollah, against which the IDF (Israeli military) will be operating in the near future."

This development comes on the heels of a recent Israeli strike in Gaza, which resulted in the loss of 33 lives, according to the Gaza Civil Defence Agency. The strike, which occurred in Jabalia, has raised concerns about the escalating tensions in the region.

The Israeli military’s decision to issue an evacuation alert for south Beirut residents has raised fears of a potential escalation of violence in the area. The move is likely to exacerbate existing tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, a Shia Islamist political party and militant group based in Lebanon.

As the situation continues to unfold, residents of southern Beirut are advised to exercise extreme caution and to follow the instructions of local authorities to ensure their safety. International leaders are also urging restraint and calling for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

In the face of growing tensions, the international community remains vigilant, with many calling for a swift and peaceful resolution to the crisis.
