Kaduna State Governor Expresses Confidence in APC Victory as Local Government Elections Get Underway

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has cast his vote in the local government elections, describing the exercise as free, fair, and peaceful. Speaking after casting his ballot at the LEA Primary School, Kawo polling unit, Governor Sani expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would emerge victorious.

The Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KADSIECOM) had scheduled the elections to take place in all 23 local government areas of the state on Saturday. KADSIECOM Chairperson, Hajara Mohammed, had announced the date and timetable in July, during a meeting with political parties and stakeholders.

Despite experiencing some issues in a few polling units, Governor Sani stated that the elections were generally proceeding smoothly. "Although we had issues in one or two polling units, generally, I can tell you that elections are going on in about 23 local government areas," he said. "And the reports we are hearing are that it is largely peaceful, fair, and transparent. I have no fear that at the end of the day, we will have a very credible election in the state."

Governor Sani attributed his confidence in the APC’s victory to the party’s extensive campaign efforts, which reached all 255 wards in the state. "This is a local government election that is very important to us, and you should be aware that APC had gone round the 255 wards to campaign," he explained. "That is the reason why I am extremely confident that APC will come out victorious in this very election by the grace of God."

The governor also urged other political parties to accept the outcome of the elections, emphasizing the importance of democratic values. "In elections, there must always be a winner and loser, and we must always accept the verdict because we are democrats," he said.

As the elections continue, the people of Kaduna State await the outcome, hoping for a peaceful and transparent process that reflects the will of the people.
