Ekiti PDP Seeks Expulsion of Fayose Over Anti-Party Activities

The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for the expulsion of former Governor Ayodele Fayose from the party due to his alleged anti-party activities and misconduct.

In a press briefing held on Sunday in Ado-Ekiti, the state PDP Caretaker Chairman, Dare Adeleke, stated that Fayose’s actions, including his public endorsement of Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), have embarrassed the PDP and could mislead the public about the party’s true values.

According to Adeleke, the recommendation for Fayose’s expulsion was part of the submissions made to the Tom Ikimi-led Disciplinary Panel and the Olagunsoye Oyinlola Reconciliation Committee.

Fayose, while inaugurating a recently completed project, had expressed support for Oyebanji’s second term bid, stating that he was proud of the governor’s development efforts. However, Adeleke countered that Oyebanji had failed Ekiti State in the last two years, citing a lack of progress in infrastructure, health, security, education, and other areas.

Adeleke alleged that Fayose’s actions were driven by self-interest and a desire for personal gain, adding that the former governor was no longer a member of the PDP in spirit. He urged Fayose to officially decamp from the party rather than openly aligning himself with an opposing party and misleading others.

The PDP CTC chairman emphasized that the party’s focus was on strengthening and rebuilding, and that Fayose’s behavior only served to weaken their collective efforts. He encouraged party members to remain focused and avoid distractions, urging them to support the Local Government Caretaker Committees in their efforts to rebuild and restore the party’s strength across all levels in Ekiti State.

In conclusion, Adeleke urged the Ekiti people to remain calm, patient, and vigilant, stating that in 2026, they must reject the cycle of neglect and choose leadership that genuinely prioritizes their collective well-being and development.
