Delta State Schoolgirl Cries Out for Help as Mother Allegedly Tries to Force Her into Child Prostitution
A disturbing and heartbreaking cry for help has been made by a 15-year-old schoolgirl in Delta State, Nigeria. Emmanuella Monday, a Senior Secondary School 2 student at Triumphant School in Effurun, has accused her biological mother, Mrs. Eunice Asulie, of attempting to force her into child prostitution.
According to Emmanuella, her mother has been contracting her to unnamed men, taking advantage of her for financial gain. The teenager alleged that on Sunday, her mother took her to a hotel in Orhuworun Road, Udu Local Government Area, where she was forced to meet an Aboki man. Emmanuella claimed that her mother left her at the hotel, instructing her to go with the man, but she managed to escape when the man went to take a bath.
The victim confided in her teacher, who reported the matter to the school management. The proprietress of Triumphant Schools, Mrs. Magareth Oghuvwu, expressed her concern and fear for Emmanuella’s safety, stating that the girl’s mother and father were no longer together.
In a phone interview, Emmanuella’s mother, Mrs. Asulie, claimed that her daughter had been missing from home and that she had reported the matter to the police. However, Emmanuella’s account and the actions of her mother raise serious questions about the mother’s involvement in child trafficking.
Comrade Ighorhiohwunu Aghogho, a human rights activist, has dispatched a petition to the Delta State office of the National Human Rights Commission, seeking justice for Emmanuella. The petition alleges that the biological mother had sold her daughter to a suspected sex trafficker, grossly violating Emmanuella’s rights.
Meanwhile, the Delta State Police Command has taken action, and Emmanuella is currently in police protection custody pending the outcome of the investigation.
