Leadership Continuity in Ekiti State: Kayode Fayemi Praises Biodun Oyebanji’s Successes

In a show of commendation for his successor’s accomplishments, former Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, recently praised Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his exceptional leadership skills and commitment to delivering results for the people of Ekiti State. Fayemi’s endorsement highlighted Oyebanji’s ability to unite diverse political interests and effectively drive development through the completion of key infrastructure projects.

During the commissioning of two road projects, including the Agric Olope-Odo Ado-Moferere road and GRA 3rd extension road (phase one), in Ado Ekiti, Fayemi acknowledged Oyebanji’s commitment to continuity and his alignment with the Ekiti State Transition Law. This law prohibits a succeeding administration from abandoning uncompleted projects initiated by the preceding government. Fayemi described this approach as a hallmark of excellent leadership.

"I am surprised with the way you have been uniting all the political leaders of Ekiti State," Fayemi stated. "Not all leaders are blessed or endowed with such skill, not all of us. To me, it is good for the system, because we need peace and unity to drive development."

Fayemi commended Oyebanji for attending to various road projects initiated by his administration, including Itapa-Omu-Ijelu, GRA third extension, and Ado-Ifaki. He also praised Oyebanji for paying the minimum wage, as well as salaries, pensions, and gratuities of retirees. According to Fayemi, the hallmark of leadership is building for successive generations.

Responding to the praise, Governor Oyebanji hailed Fayemi as a good mentor and coach, recognizing the solid foundation laid by his predecessor for the success of his administration. Oyebanji acknowledged that he prioritized completing projects initiated by Fayemi before embarking on his own projects, emphasizing the importance of protecting the interests of Ekiti State.

The significance of the commissioned roads was also highlighted by the State Commissioner for Works, Mr. Sola Adebayo, who noted that these projects will boost transportation, open new opportunities for farmers, traders, and commuters, and expand the scope of economic activities. The President of the League of Imams and Alfas, Sheikh Jamiu Kewulere Bello, also commended Oyebanji for prioritizing the road, now equipped with modern markers and street lights.

As Oyebanji continues to deliver on his promises, the endorsement from his predecessor serves as a testament to his commitment to effective governance and the well-being of the people of Ekiti State.
