PDP’s Bode George Slams Fayose For Backing APC

PDP Chieftain Blasts Fayose for Supporting APC Governor’s Re-election Bid in Ekiti State

In an unexpected turn of events, a senior member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, has strongly criticized former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose for openly declaring his support for the re-election of incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Fayose’s public endorsement of Oyebanji has sparked a firestorm within the PDP, with many viewing it as a betrayal of the party’s interests.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, George expressed his disappointment and concern over Fayose’s decision, stating that “something is wrong” if Fayose indeed declared his support for Oyebanji. According to George, the PDP will be investigating Fayose’s actions, starting from his ward, to determine if he should be sanctioned for anti-party activities.

Fayose had earlier praised Governor Oyebanji on Sunday Politics on October 13, stating that it would take a “miracle” for the PDP to defeat him in the 2026 governorship election. He added that despite being a PDP member, he is a leader in Ekiti State and that Oyebanji has done an “exceedingly well” job as governor. Fayose’s comments have been seen as a clear departure from the PDP’s stance, sparking outrage among party loyalists.

George emphasized that the PDP can still resolve its internal crisis but lamented the fact that party members are allowing personal interests to disturb the peace within the party. He stressed that the party’s interests must take precedence over personal interests to achieve lasting peace. He also appealed to party members to refrain from airing their grievances in public and to give peace a chance.

As the PDP struggles to maintain unity, George’s strong rebuke of Fayose sends a clear message that the party will not tolerate disloyalty. With the 2026 governorship election looming, the PDP must now navigate its internal conflicts to present a united front and challenge the APC’s dominance in Ekiti State.
