Nvidia AI Summit India Gets Underway: CEO Jensen Huang Reveals Key Developments

Nvidia’s highly anticipated AI Summit in India kicked off on Thursday with a keynote address by the company’s CEO, Jensen Huang. Known for his signature black leather jacket, Huang took the stage to express his admiration for India, describing the country as “very, very dear to the world’s computer industry and central to the IT industry.”

During his speech, Huang discussed the rapid rise of technologies such as generative artificial intelligence (AI), deep learning models, and computer vision models, highlighting their profound impact on a global scale. He also delved into Nvidia’s tech stack, showcasing the company’s Inference Microservices (NIM) and the Blackwell B200 GPU.

Huang shed light on the impending end of Moore’s law, which states that the number of transistors in an IC doubles roughly every two years. This, he explained, would lead to a halt in technology depreciation, making access to technology more expensive. However, he emphasized that AI could help initiate a software-based growth journey for technology, ensuring it continues to grow and depreciate at the same rate.

The Nvidia CEO also praised the company’s strong AI infrastructure in India, which is bolstering the country’s AI ecosystem. He highlighted Nvidia’s Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) system, which has accelerated numerous critical industries, including semiconductors, manufacturing, computation, and more.

In a significant announcement, Huang revealed that the Blackwell B200 GPUs will be shipped to customers in the fourth quarter of 2024. Notably, a design flaw had delayed the shipping of Nvidia’s latest chips, aimed at hardware acceleration of AI workflows. The company took full responsibility for the flaw and has since announced that it has been fixed.

Huang also recognized Nvidia’s India partners, including Tata Communications, Infosys, Flipkart, Reliance, and others, who are leveraging the company’s tech stack to develop solutions for India and the world. Nvidia is investing in building Hindi-based large language models (LLMs) in India, collaborating with local startups, enterprises, and stakeholders. “Once you have cracked LLMs in India, you can build in any part of the world,” Huang noted.

The Nvidia CEO also discussed agentic AI models, specialized chatbots capable of handling complex tasks end-to-end. He stated that the company is investing in developing platforms that enable other companies to build this capability for themselves. According to Huang, agentic AI models will empower employees to become “super employees” and enhance productivity.

As the Nvidia AI Summit India continues, the industry is eagerly awaiting further insights into the company’s innovative developments and its vision for AI’s future.
