Minister of Defence Commends Zamfara Governor for Support in Fight Against Banditry

Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has been praised by Minister of Defence Mohammed Badaru for his unwavering commitment to troops combating banditry in the region. Badaru’s commendation came during his visit to the Zamfara Government House and the Joint Taskforce North-West Operation Fansar Yamma headquarters in Gusau on Thursday.

The minister’s visit was part of ongoing efforts to bolster collaboration between the state and the Ministry of Defence. It was also a follow-up to a previous visit by Governor Lawal and his Katsina State counterpart, Umaru Dikko Radda, to the ministry in Abuja earlier in the week.

Governor Lawal reiterated his administration’s dedication to working closely with all security agencies to restore peace in Zamfara. He expressed his gratitude to the Minister of Defence for his prompt response to the security challenges facing the state.

“I want to thank the Minister of Defence for his commitment to our security challenges,” Governor Lawal said. “His visit is a testament to his dedication, and I appreciate his efforts. We are committed to providing all necessary support to the troops as we take the fight to the bandits.”

According to Governor Lawal, his administration has procured 10 bulletproof Buffalo gun trucks for the military and has put other logistics in place to support the security forces in combating banditry. He emphasized that with the combined efforts of the military and other security agencies, the issue of banditry will soon be a thing of the past.

Minister Badaru acknowledged the significant role Governor Lawal’s support has played in the success of ongoing operations against bandits. “We have started seeing improvements, thanks to the support of His Excellency, the Governor of Zamfara State,” he said. “He has provided accommodation for the command, logistics, long-distance surveillance cameras, vehicles, and fuel. He has even supplied the troops with gun trucks.”

The governor’s commitment to addressing the security challenges in Zamfara has been welcomed by both the Minister of Defence and the military. With continued support and collaboration, there is hope that the fight against banditry will soon yield positive results.
