The Ondo State Police Command on Wednesday said it had commenced investigation into the alleged attack on a hospital by some hoodlums in Ondo town.

The hoodlums attacked the hospital, Ileri Oluwa House of Hope Hospital, on Sunday, carting away equipment worth millions of naira.

The founder of the hospital, Mr Hakeem Oyeneyin, described the incident as disheartening.

He explained that the thieves entered through the hospital roof and window.

Oyeneyin emphasised that the hospital would be shut down pending the time the community would guarantee the safety of lives and property.

He apologised to patients for the inconvenience the development might cause, adding that the incident had been reported to the police and investigation was ongoing.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, said the command had commenced investigation into the incident.

“It was a case of burglary and we have commenced investigation into it,” the PPRO stated.
