A collaborator of the late Liam Payne, former One Direction singer who tragically passed away after falling from his Buenos Aires hotel room, announced the release of a new single titled “Do No Wrong” on Friday. Sam Pounds, the US singer and songwriter, shared his hopes that this track would serve as “a blessing to the world,” particularly to Payne’s mourning family.
Pounds expressed his prayers on social media, accompanying the post with monochrome artwork featuring a winged angel ascending towards a fractured heart. He expressed his wish for “supernatural positive healing power” to envelop everyone.
On October 16, Payne was discovered deceased after falling from the balcony of his third-floor room at the Casa Sur Hotel in Argentina’s capital. His untimely demise at the age of 31 resulted in a worldwide outpouring of sorrow and condolences from family, ex-bandmates, fans, and others.
Hotel staff had previously contacted emergency services twice to report a guest “overwhelmed by drugs and alcohol” who was “wreaking havoc” in a hotel room. Payne had openly discussed his struggles with substance abuse and managing fame from a young age.
Prior to his death, Payne had collaborated with Pounds on “Do No Wrong,” which will have three versions released: a live mix and an a cappella single. His last solo endeavor, a single named “Teardrops,” was launched in March, with a second album hinted at around the same time. The day after Payne’s passing, Pounds shared a tribute montage on Instagram, including a studio recording video of Payne working on the track. “I can’t fathom writing this post. I can’t accept that you are gone in this manner,” he penned.
