The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Osun State has officially disengaged 3,075 corps members from the 2023 Batch C Stream 2 service year. This significant move was made public during a modest ceremony held in Osogbo and Olorunda local government areas, where the Osun NYSC State Coordinator, Agbor Ndoma Obim, highlighted the achievements of the outgoing corps members.
During the ceremony, which was monitored by Erick Wophiel from the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja, Agbor praised the corps members for their contributions to national unity and integration. He emphasized the importance of their roles in various communities, stating, “A total of 3,075 Corps Members served successfully while 45 bagged extensions for different offences as outlined in the NYSC By-law, and 48 Corps Members were reported to have absconded from service during the course of the year.”
The corps members were deployed across multiple sectors, including education, health, agriculture, and infrastructure, with the aim of addressing resource gaps in these critical areas. Many participants expressed personal growth and fulfillment from their experiences, having positively impacted the communities they served.
Agbor commended the corps members for embodying the values of unity and national integration throughout their service. He encouraged them to carry these principles into their future endeavors as exemplary citizens contributing to Nigeria’s development.
In his remarks, Erick Wophiel commended the corps members for their dedication and urged them to leverage the values of hard work, patriotism, and community spirit they cultivated during their service. He reaffirmed that the NYSC remains a vital platform for fostering national integration, with the experiences gained being invaluable for their personal and professional lives.
