Jordan Chiles Named to Ebony’s Power 100, Reflects on a Year of Triumph and Challenges

Jordan Chiles has had a standout year in 2024, marked by her remarkable performances at the Paris Olympics and her recent inclusion in Ebony Magazine’s prestigious Power 100 list. The 23-year-old gymnast took a moment to share her gratitude and reflect on this milestone, highlighting the journey that brought her here.

Chiles’s season kicked off with strong performances at the U.S. Core Hydration Classic, where she claimed bronze in the all-around and uneven bars categories. Her momentum continued at the U.S. National Championships, where she took silver on the bars, and she ultimately earned her place on Team USA for a second Olympic Games.

In Paris, Chiles played a crucial role in helping the U.S. reclaim gold in the team event. Individually, she secured a bronze in the floor exercise final, a result that was met with controversy. The medal was later stripped due to a dispute, leading her to appeal the decision with Switzerland’s Federal Supreme Court.

Recently, Chiles was recognized as one of Ebony Magazine’s Power 100 honorees in the “Leaders in Sports” category. On Instagram, she expressed her gratitude for the recognition, writing, “I am so happy to be honored this year by Ebony Magazine… Being recognized alongside such incredible individuals from our own community is truly humbling, and I’m grateful for this platform that is not only of the culture, but for the culture!”

Looking ahead, Chiles is set to rejoin UCLA gymnastics, where she first made waves in 2021. With numerous accolades, including NCAA Championships in uneven bars and floor exercise, eight All-America honors, and the titles of WCGA West Region Gymnast of the Year and College Gym News Sportswoman of the Year, her return to collegiate gymnastics promises another chapter of excellence. Chiles is currently part of Simone Biles’s Gold Over America Tour but will return to UCLA in January.
