Social Critic Apologizes to Nigeria Police over Uniform Controversy

Martins Otse, the outspoken social media influencer known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has been released from detention after fulfilling his bail requirements. VDM, known for his candid criticism online, was arraigned last Friday by the Nigeria Police Force on charges of alleged impersonation.

After a court hearing, VDM was granted bail, set at N2 million, with two sureties required to post an equivalent amount each. Additionally, VDM had to surrender his international passport and other forms of identification.

This development comes just a week after a video went viral, showing VDM dressed in a police uniform—an image that spurred significant online reactions and raised questions leading to his detention. His release is expected to spark further public debate, especially among his followers who have rallied around him during the ordeal.
