The Nigerian Defence Headquarters announced that troops have successfully neutralized 187 terrorists, arrested 262 suspects, and rescued 147 kidnapped hostages during various military operations across the country over the past week. The update was shared in a Friday statement by Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations.
Buba reported that the operations resulted in the recovery of an extensive arsenal, including 205 assorted weapons and over 5,000 rounds of ammunition. The haul included rifles, pistols, and locally fabricated firearms, as well as vehicles, motorcycles, and other tactical equipment.
In Nigeria’s North East region, Operation Hadin Kai eliminated 103 terrorists, arrested 64 suspects, and freed 15 hostages. Additionally, 19 terrorists, including women and children, surrendered to the military within this timeframe.
In the North Central zone, troops from Operations Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke neutralized 18 extremists, apprehended 52 suspects, and rescued 40 hostages, along with seizing a cache of arms. In the North West, Operation Hadarin Daji reported the elimination of 51 terrorists, the capture of 55 suspects, and the liberation of 81 hostages. An air strike on October 20 targeted a terrorist leader’s base in Kaduna State, eliminating multiple operatives and destroying structures.
According to Buba, these operations reflect ongoing efforts by the Nigerian military to combat terrorism and restore security across the country.
