Davido Claims Celebrity Status Grants Him Global Special Treatment

Famous Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that he enjoys special treatment worldwide due to his celebrity status. The Afrobeats star shared that he receives invitations to presidential dinners in every country he visits, with the exception of the United States and the United Kingdom.

In a recent interview with Kiss Fresh London, Davido highlighted the influential individuals in his fanbase, which he claims includes the president of the World Bank and leaders of powerful nations. “Every country we go to, the President invites us for dinner except London [United Kingdom] and the United States of America,” he remarked.

Davido expressed pride in the warm reception he receives abroad, stating, “It’s beautiful to see. I mean, leaving my country, Nigeria, and people welcoming me like the president in other countries shows how well Nigeria is doing around the world in terms of music and cultural impacts.”

He emphasized that he feels most respected in Africa, which makes him favor his African tours over those in Europe and America, despite earning more in the Western world. Davido noted that his Jamaican colleague, YG Marley, was taken aback by the immense love shown to him during his recent visit to Nigeria for the video shoot of their collaborative hit, “Awuke.”

This revelation underscores Davido’s significant impact as a cultural ambassador for Nigeria and highlights the growing recognition of African music on the global stage.
