Ex-Husband Allegedly Kills Ex-Wife in Ogun State

Man kills ex-wife in Ogun over domestic dispute

A man, identified as Muftau Adefalu, has reportedly killed his ex-wife, Yetunde Olayiwole, in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State. The Ogun State Police confirmed the arrest and detention of Adefalu following Olayiwole’s death.

According to police spokesperson Omolola Odutola, the incident occurred around 8:00 PM on Friday, November 1, 2024. It is believed that a misunderstanding between the former couple escalated into a physical altercation.

During the confrontation, Olayiwole collapsed and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. “The man had a misunderstanding with his ex-wife, which resulted in a fight. She slumped during the scuffle and was immediately taken to a hospital for medical attention,” Odutola stated. “She was later confirmed dead by a doctor on duty. The corpse has been deposited at the Ifo General Hospital morgue for autopsy. The suspect has been arrested and detained.”

This tragic event follows a recent incident in Ibadan, Oyo State, where a 39-year-old man, Olusegun Tinubu, was allegedly stabbed to death by his wife, Comfort Tinubu. The state police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing in both cases.

The rising instances of domestic violence raise significant concerns about safety and the need for effective intervention strategies to protect vulnerable individuals in similar situations.
