Biden Criticizes Trump’s Tax Cuts, Calls Out Supporters

US President Joe Biden has expressed his frustration with Republicans for endorsing former President Donald Trump’s promise of significant tax cuts for the wealthy. Speaking during a campaign event in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Biden took aim at Trump and his supporters, labeling them as “macho guys” who back such policies. This appearance was part of Biden’s support for Vice President Kamala Harris, who is running as the Democratic candidate in the upcoming November 5 election.

“There’s one more thing Trump and his Republican friends want to do. They want to have a giant tax cut for the wealthy,” Biden told members of the local carpenters’ union. He addressed the audience with a rhetorical flair, stating, “Now, I know some of you guys are tempted to think it’s macho guys,” referring to Trump’s base. In a moment of passionate delivery, Biden reminisced about his upbringing in Scranton, recalling, “When I was in Scranton, we used to have a little trouble going down the plot once in a while. These are the kind of guys you’d like to smack in the ass,” he added, emphasizing the seriousness of his remarks.

Trump’s tax proposals have been a focal point of his campaign, which includes a 20% reduction in the corporate tax rate, eliminating taxes on overtime pay, and making Social Security benefits tax-free for seniors. These proposals have drawn both support and criticism, reflecting the divisive nature of the current political climate.

Earlier this week, Biden stirred controversy by labeling Republican supporters as “garbage” and accusing Trump of exacerbating divisions in the country along racial lines. The White House later clarified that there was a “difference in interpretation” regarding Biden’s comments, which were made in response to “hateful rhetoric” aimed at Puerto Rico during a Trump rally at Madison Square Garden.

The exchange between the two parties has been marked by intense rhetoric. Trump has frequently criticized Harris, calling her a “low IQ individual” and deriding her policies as “plans of a simpleton.” In turn, Harris and other Democrats have accused Trump of spreading falsehoods and dubbed him a “petty tyrant.”

As the election draws nearer, the clash of ideologies between the Democratic and Republican parties continues to intensify, with tax policy emerging as a key issue in the campaign.
