Bobby Lashley has finally addressed the swirling speculation regarding his future in wrestling, particularly the rumors linking him to AEW (All Elite Wrestling) and a potential reunion with his former faction, The Hurt Business. After parting ways with WWE in August when his contract expired, Lashley has been the subject of numerous reports indicating talks with AEW and an imminent debut.
During a recent virtual signing with K & S WrestleFest, Lashley expressed his eagerness to return to the ring, stating he still has much to contribute. He hinted at exciting developments on the horizon, indicating that he has been preparing to make a significant comeback. “I know the last few years have been a little up and down. But I got a lot more left in the tank and I can’t wait to jump back out there,” he said. “I had a little boo-boo, so I took a little time off to fix myself and I’m feeling good right now. I’ve been working out hard, and I think the next few weeks, you should see something – something pop off. It’s time to put pen to paper and start getting back to these fans.”
Lashley also discussed the various offers on the table, including opportunities with both TNA (Total Nonstop Action Wrestling) and AEW. He mentioned the prospect of reuniting with MVP and Shelton Benjamin, who are already competing in AEW and currently embroiled in a feud with Swerve Strickland. He expressed concern for fellow wrestler Lio Rush, who faced Shelton Benjamin recently, saying, “I wasn’t too happy about that. I like Lio. Lio’s a freaking star.”
As Lashley considers his options, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T has thrown his hat into the ring, suggesting that Brian Cage would be an ideal opponent for Lashley’s debut in AEW. On his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T emphasized the potential for an explosive matchup between the two powerhouses, especially with Cage currently holding the ROH TV Championship. “Cage got the title, right? Throw him [Lashley] in there with Brian Cage. I mean, that’s a lot of beef. Both of those guys, they match very good together,” he remarked.
At this stage, it appears The Hurt Syndicate is strategizing for the perfect timing for Lashley’s AEW debut, which many fans believe could transform the landscape of the promotion once it becomes reality.
