Nigeria’s 2027 Election Will Be “APC vs. Nigerians,” Says Governor Makinde

2027 Elections Will Be Nigerians Vs APC — Makinde

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has cast the upcoming 2027 general elections as a showdown between Nigerians and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that the contest transcends traditional party lines. Makinde made this declaration in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, during the inauguration of the South-West zonal office of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday.

“The next election will be APC versus Nigerians. It is not even about APC versus PDP,” he remarked, urging the PDP to unite and consolidate its support base in anticipation of the national vote. According to Makinde, the 2027 elections represent a critical opportunity for Nigerians to make their voices heard in shaping the country’s future direction.

Makinde also noted the dedication of the newly opened Soji Adagunodo House to the late Hon. Adagunodo, honoring his contributions to South-West politics. The South-West PDP office, named after Adagunodo, is intended to serve as a center for party activities across the region.

With his remarks, Makinde joins a growing number of opposition voices calling for a strong, unified front to challenge the APC’s leadership in the next election cycle, framing the choice as one between maintaining the status quo and allowing Nigerians to advocate for change through their votes.
