Ahead of the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State, leaders in Ilaje Local Government Area are urging voters to back the incumbent, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The Ilaje Development Summit Group, a prominent organization dedicated to advancing the oil-rich region’s development, has called on the people to support Aiyedatiwa, an Ilaje native, for the benefit of the state.
At the Ilaje Political Summit and Ilaje Development Summit Group Congress 2024, held in Igbokoda, the group’s Executive Administrator, Adesola Adebawo, urged attendees to vote en masse for Aiyedatiwa, stressing the importance of his leadership for the state’s progress. The event, themed “A Unified Vision for Ondo State: Political and Economic Renaissance for Sustainable Development,” highlighted the role of collaborative governance in driving growth and unity.
“We have a leader who is strategic and well-positioned,” Adebawo stated. “Now is the time to rally behind Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to secure the prosperity of Ondo State and its citizens.” He also encouraged citizens to reject violence during the election period, advocating for peaceful participation in the democratic process.
Highlighting the critical intersection of politics and development, Adebawo underscored the significance of community involvement in selecting qualified leaders. He described the coming four years as pivotal for the state, emphasizing that effective leadership and partnership with citizens will be key to driving economic recovery and sustainable growth.
Ilaje APC chieftain Chief Olusola Oke joined the call, urging voters to ensure a resounding victory for Aiyedatiwa, while local monarch Oba Aderibigbe Olomola appealed for peace, asking residents to approach the elections with unity and purpose. “Let peace prevail because violence doesn’t solve anything,” he advised, urging the community to vote wisely to secure a prosperous future.
The summit also addressed the potential of riverine resources to drive regional development, advocating for strategic partnerships between citizens and leaders to realize a unified vision for Ondo State’s advancement.
