Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has asserted that the ongoing political crisis in the state revolves around the control of its resources. Speaking to a congregation at the Omega Power Ministries (OPM) during the 51st birthday celebration of General Overseer Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, Fubara reiterated his commitment to utilizing state resources for the welfare of the people.
Fubara urged the congregation to continue their prayers for his administration, emphasizing that maintaining focus on governance is crucial amid the prevailing challenges. He stated, “There is a reason for this crisis, and that reason is the control of the resources of Rivers State. Rivers State resources belong to you (the people), and we will make sure that the resources are applied judiciously for the betterment of Rivers State.”
The governor acknowledged the essential role of prayer in governance, highlighting that it helps keep leaders on course. “What you owe us is just one thing: Continue to pray for us. Let us not lose focus because we know the devil is always at war to derail people in governance,” he added.
Fubara praised Apostle Chinyere for his philanthropic efforts, particularly his contributions to education aimed at equipping children with vocational skills. He noted the deterioration of public facilities upon his assumption of office and commended the cleric for his initiatives that address these issues. “Life is not about taking. What is important in life is giving. For all you are doing for humanity, God will continue to strengthen you,” Fubara remarked.
In a gesture of support for OPM’s development projects, Fubara announced a donation of 200 million Naira to the church, which will aid ongoing infrastructure efforts. “I am happy to be here, especially to celebrate this birthday with him. I strongly believe his prayer and the prayers of the church are one of the reasons that while in the face of all our troubles, we are still standing,” he said.
Former First Lady Patience Jonathan also lauded Apostle Chinyere’s humanitarian work, describing him as a beacon of hope and urging continued prayers for peace in Rivers State.
In his address, Apostle Chinyere underscored the importance of empowering the girl child, sharing his initiatives, including an all-girls technical college aimed at providing education and discouraging negative societal trends. “When you empower the girl child, as she’s finishing secondary school, she already has a trade,” he stated, stressing the need for sustainable solutions to societal challenges.
Fubara’s remarks and the support he received at the event highlight a continued commitment to ensuring the welfare of Rivers State’s citizens amidst political turmoil.
