APC Clinches All Chairmanship Seats in Nasarawa and Cross River Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) swept the local government elections in Nasarawa and Cross River states, securing all chairmanship positions in both regions. The elections, held Saturday, affirmed APC’s dominance in the states.

In Nasarawa State, the APC emerged victorious across all 13 local government areas, as announced by Ayuba Wandai, Chairman of the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC), at the electoral headquarters in Lafia. The APC also claimed 140 out of 147 available councillorship seats, with the Social Democratic Party (SDP) winning five seats and the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) taking two.

Similarly, the APC maintained a stronghold in Cross River State, where it won all 18 chairmanship seats and 196 councillorship positions. The Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC) confirmed the results on Sunday through its chairman, Ekong Bocco. Following the announcement, the newly elected officials—comprising three women and 15 men—received their certificates of return.

In a statement following the election, Honourable Emmanuel Ironbar, Chief of Staff to the Cross River Governor, congratulated the winners and urged them to prioritize transparency and constituent needs. He emphasized that the newly elected officials bear the responsibility of upholding the “People First” philosophy advocated by Governor Bassey Edet Otu.

These results further cement the APC’s influence in both states, reinforcing its role in local governance.
