Bobrisky Flies Out of Nigeria Amid Legal Troubles

Controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has reportedly left Nigeria just days after being released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). In a series of videos shared on his Instagram story Monday morning, he announced his travel plans, although he did not disclose his destination. Bobrisky revealed that he was flying first class, boasting, “See you soon, Nigeria. This girl bought a first-class ticket three times; that’s over 30 million. Raise the bar for this girl.”

In a light-hearted moment, he commented on his passport photo, joking, “That passport disfigured my picture.”

Bobrisky’s departure follows a tumultuous week. He was reportedly removed from an Amsterdam-bound KLM flight at Murtala Muhammed International Airport while attempting to travel to London last Thursday. After the incident, which he claimed left him injured, Bobrisky took to social media to inform his followers.

Following this altercation, he was taken to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja, where he faced questioning about allegations that he had bribed officials with 15 million naira to dismiss money laundering charges against him. He was later released on bail Saturday after denying any bribery during his confession at the commission.

Bobrisky’s legal issues began in April 2024, when he was sentenced to six months in prison for naira abuse. Although he was initially held at Kirikiri Prison, reports surfaced that he spent only three weeks in confinement before being discreetly relocated to an undisclosed location.

The situation escalated further in September when social media influencer Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, released an audio recording purportedly featuring Bobrisky discussing the bribery of EFCC officials to dismiss his money laundering charges.
