Ecomondo, Europe’s premier green economy event, is set to commence at the Rimini Expo Centre from November 5 to 8, 2024. This year, the trade show is expected to attract 650 hosted buyers from North Africa, Europe, North and Latin America, along with delegations from 100 countries and 72 organizations, institutions, and associations around the world.
Corrado Peraboni, CEO of the Italian Exhibition Group (IEG), emphasized the significance of this exhibition, stating, “With delegations from over 100 countries and the participation of 72 organizations, institutions, and sector associations, Ecomondo confirms its role as an international hub of primary importance for the green economy. It acts as a real community catalyst through a series of international appointments that extend throughout the year.”
Maurizio Ermeti, President of IEG, highlighted the growing international presence at the event, noting, “This four-day business event will see participation from 650 hosted buyers and is registering a notable increase in incoming from Asia, specifically Central Asia, China, South East Asia, Pakistan, and India.”
The event is bolstered by effective collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, making it increasingly international. Alessandra Astolfi, IEG’s Global Exhibition Director for Green & Technology, remarked on the expanded network, stating, “Ecomondo’s international outreach goes well beyond national borders. We are involved in related events, including Ecomondo Mexico (March 5-7, 2025), targeting the Latin American market, and Ecomondo China – CDEPE (March 27-29, 2025), focused on environmental technologies in the Chinese market.”
The 2024 edition of Ecomondo will place a special emphasis on Africa, in alignment with the Italian government’s Mattei Plan and the fourth edition of the African Green Growth event. This initiative, organized in collaboration with the Ministry for the Environment and Energy Security, has already confirmed eight delegations from Africa, alongside 104 buyers from countries such as Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Ivory Coast, Botswana, Senegal, South Africa, and Kenya.
Additionally, Ecomondo is partnering with the E4Impact Foundation, which operates in 20 African countries and provides MBA training, acceleration, incubation, and support programs for local entrepreneurship. The fourth edition of E4Impact’s “Business Networking Week in Italy,” taking place from November 4 to 8, 2024, will focus on the Circular Economy and include a visit to Ecomondo.
This gathering not only showcases innovations in green technologies but also fosters collaboration and networking opportunities essential for advancing sustainable practices globally.
