Osun State Assembly Passes Lotteries and Real Estate Regulatory Bills into Law

The Osun State House of Assembly has officially passed two key bills: the Lotteries and Gaming Bill and the Estate Agency Regulatory Authority (Establishment) Bill. The legislation, aimed at regulating the state’s gaming and real estate sectors, was passed during a plenary session led by Speaker Adewale Egbedun.

According to Egbedun, these laws represent significant strides in the Assembly’s legislative agenda. The Lottery and Gaming Bill, which he sponsored, will establish the Osun Lotteries and Gaming Board to provide a unified regulatory framework. This board will ensure transparency and ethical practices among gaming operators, strengthening oversight in the sector.

The Estate Agency Regulatory Authority Bill, introduced by Majority Leader Hon. Babajide Kofoworola Adewunmi, sets up the Osun State Estate Agency Regulatory Authority to manage estate agent activities. This authority will oversee registration, enforce standards, and foster professionalism within the real estate sector, promoting fair practices for both property buyers and sellers.

Egbedun emphasized the impact of the new laws, stating, “These laws will not only protect consumers but also foster a conducive environment for legitimate businesses.” Once the bills receive the governor’s assent, they are expected to enhance the gaming and real estate industries, boost economic growth, and safeguard residents’ interests.
