As the U.S. election approaches, more celebrities are calling out Elon Musk for his outspoken support of Donald Trump. Following a recent jab from Cardi B, renowned horror writer Stephen King took to X (formerly Twitter), which Musk owns, on Sunday night to accuse the tech billionaire of spreading misinformation.
“The Musk-man has posted 3,000 times on Twitter in the last month,” King wrote on X. “Most are pro-Trump disinformation and outright lies. Remember, he has skin in the game. Consider his posts accordingly.”
King’s criticism highlights Musk’s endorsement of Trump on X back in July, along with reports that Musk donated millions to a Trump Super PAC and made appearances at Trump rallies. Musk also reportedly offered million-dollar payouts to swing-state Trump supporters.
With over 200 million followers, Musk’s X account frequently disseminates divisive content. He has shared — and deleted — far-right misinformation and made debunked claims, including a false report about a bomb at a Trump rally. Despite frequent fact-checks from X’s Community Notes, conspiracy theories about Trump’s safety and other inflammatory topics have circulated widely under Musk’s watch.
When faced with King’s criticism, Musk responded only by laughing at King’s post-counting efforts, avoiding any direct rebuttal of the author’s claims.
