Doyin Okupe Declares Support for President Bola Tinubu Amid Criticism

Hardship: We'll no longer watch anyone insult Tinubu - Doyin Okupe vows

Doyin Okupe, the former Director-General of Peter Obi’s 2023 presidential campaign council, has expressed strong support for President Bola Tinubu, stating that the South West region will no longer tolerate disrespectful comments directed at him. During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Okupe emphasized Tinubu’s significance to the people of the South West, referring to him as “the apple of our eyes.”

Okupe firmly stated, “From now on, we are no longer going to keep quiet for people who think they can just insult Bola Tinubu.” He urged that any negative discourse about the president is unwarranted and reiterated confidence in Tinubu’s leadership, saying, “If things are not looking well now, they’ll look well because we know him.”

Despite widespread discontent among Nigerians regarding the current administration’s policies, which many believe have contributed to ongoing hardships, Okupe dismissed these grievances. He believes there is no justification for public complaints against the president, suggesting that the South West must rally behind their leader during challenging times.

Okupe’s comments reflect a growing trend of public figures stepping up to defend Tinubu amidst mounting criticism, as the nation grapples with various socio-economic issues. His remarks are likely to resonate with supporters in the region while highlighting the complexities of political loyalty in Nigeria’s current climate.
