EPL: You’d be mad – Glen Johnson advises Chelsea star against leaving club for Man Utd

Former Chelsea defender, Glen Johnson has told forward, Christopher Nkunku that he would be ‘mad’ to leave Stamford Bridge amid rumours Manchester United are interested in signing him.

Johnson believes Nkunku can start to have a big impact at Chelsea if he stays fit.

Nkunku joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig in 2023.

The Frenchman made only 11 Premier League appearances for the Blues last season due to injury issues.

Nkunku has been impressive this season, contributing 10 goals in 16 games for Enzo Maresca’s side.

But the 26-year-old has been forced to play back-up to the likes of Nicolas Jackson, Noni Madueke and Cole Palmer.

As a result, Nkunku has been linked with a January move to Man United and a number of teams have reportedly expressed interest in signing him.

“His start to life at the club was quite tough when he suffered his injury and we don’t know if he is fully over that yet,” Johnson told Betfred.

“In spells, we have seen some really good stuff from him and as Chelsea are going in the right direction, he would be mad to jump ship now.

“They are in a much better position now and if he can get fit and get himself in the starting eleven, then Chelsea have a good player on their hands. He just doesn’t look fully fit yet.”
