AFCON 2025Q: Victor Collins keen to become Super Eagles regular

Nasarawa United defender, Victor Collins is ready to stake claim for a regular playing berth in the Super Eagles.

Collins is in Nigeria’s squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

The centre-back is the only home-based player included in the squad by caretaker coach, Augustine Eguavoen.

He was part of the Super Eagles evening training session in Abidjan on Tuesday.

Collins said it is a big privilege for him to be part of the Super Eagles.

“It’s a privilege to be here. Just imagine watching players like Osimhen and Iwobi on TV in the Premier League or Turkish League, and now, I’m here in camp and meeting them to be teammates,” he told Brila FM.

“It’s a very good development for me, and I need to learn from them and also put in extra effort; if I was giving 110% before, I need to give 150% now.

“My mentality is always about winning; I don’t settle for less; by the special grace of God, I’m here to stay.”
