AFCON 2025 qualifier: Benin coach Rohr names three Super Eagles players he loves

Benin Republic head coach Gernot Rohr has named the likes of Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Moses Simon as the Super Eagles players he loves.

Rohr was in the Super Eagles dugout for five years.

The 71-year-old is familiar with the players in the Nigeria squad.

The German handed the likes of Osimhen, Frank Onyeka, Maduka Okoye, Ola Aina and Samuel Chukwueze their debuts in the Super Eagles.

He left the role in December 2021, a month before the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON.

Speaking ahead of his side’s 2025 Africa Cup Nations qualifier against Nigeria in Abidjan on Thursday, Rohr told the Nation: “We see that in [Nigeria] you have Victor Osimhen, Lookman, Moses Simon and all the big strikers, but I love these players because most of them were with me a few years ago.”
