LG Polls: Ogun govt declares Friday Nov 15 public holiday

Ahead of the November 16 local government elections, the Ogun State Government has approved Friday, November 15, 2024, as a work-free day.

This, according to the government, is to enable Public and Civil Servants who desire to travel to their various Local Government Areas to perform their civic duty to do so without any hitch.

In a release signed by the Head of Service, Mr Kehinde Onasanya, on Thursday, the work-free day was in line with the principle of inclusiveness and participatory democracy of the Dapo Abiodun-led administration.

Media Talk Africa reported that the Chairman of the state Independent Electoral Commission, Babatunde Osibodu, said voting will begin by 8:00 am and end by 2:00 pm in all 5042 polling units throughout the state.

He added that there would be no vehicle movement during the polls other than that of emergency vehicles or cars on official election duties.
