AFCON 2025Q: Why Osho was replaced against Benin Republic — Eguavoen

Super Eagles caretaker coach, Augustine Eguavoen has explained his decision to replace Gabriel Osho after the first half against Benin Republic.

Osho made his debut for the Super Eagles in the keenly contested encounter.

The 25-year-old paired captain William Troost-Ekong and Calvin Bassey at the heart of the defence.

The Super Eagles trailed 1-0 after the break and Eguavoen substituted the Auxerre defender at the start of the second half.

“Osho is a very good player, who I have been following, I even told him even before he came that in the absence of Semi Ajayi, he will start against Benin,” Eguavoen told Eagle7fm Sports Radio

“He trained only once and then played.

“He was substituted not because he was not playing well but because I reverted to a back four so as to get something from the game.”
