Zamfara: PDP clears 12 LGs as ZASIEC awaits two council results

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won all the chairmanship and councillorship seats in Zamfara State, with the exception of Birnin Magaji and Kaura Namoda Local Governments, whose results had not been submitted as of Saturday night.

Announcing the results, the chairman of the Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC), Hon Bala Aliyu Gusau, said the votes were counted in the presence of representatives from the political parties that contested.

According to him, the election was free, fair, credible and peaceful, pointing out that no political party raised any objection over the conduct of the election.

Gusau further stated that the results of Birnin Magaji and Kaura Namoda local governments will be announced on Sunday.

He also added that once the results are announced, the winners will be issued their certificates of return and will be sworn in at the Government House on Sunday.

He commended the security agencies and stakeholders for making the election very successful, stating that no report of irregularity was received by the commission.
