Nigerian beauty queen, Chidimma Adetshina, has emerged first runner-up in the world’s Miss Universe competition.

Chidimma came second behind Miss Denmark, Victoria Kjaer Theilvig, was crowned winner at the 73rd edition of the global Miss Universe pageant.

The 23-year-old competed against over 120 contestants from around the world, delivering Nigeria’s best-ever performance in the prestigious competition.

She made history as the first Nigerian to secure the first runner-up position.

The top five were rounded out by Miss Mexico, María Fernanda Beltrán Figueroa, in third place, along with contestants from Thailand and Venezuela.

Adetshina had faced online harassment and bullying over her Nigerian roots, highlighting deeper issues of inclusivity and acceptance.
