EPL: I couldn’t say no to Ferguson – Lewandowski opens up on failed Man Utd move

Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has spoken about his failed move to Manchester United in 2012.

Lewandowski, who was playing for Borussia Dortmund at the time, admitted he was keen on the move to Old Trafford.

However, the Bundesliga club refused to sanction the transfer.

“I said yes to join Manchester United because if Sir Alex Ferguson calls you, you cannot say no,” Lewandowski said on the FIVE UK podcast.

“I also remember the conversation with the president of Dortmund. He said to me, they need me. They’re not going to sell me to Manchester United because I’m so important to them.”
