Troops kill notorious terrorist in Yobe, neutralise 114 others nationwide

Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully neutralized a notorious terrorist commander, Munzur Ya Audu, in Yobe State, along with 114 other militants, during a series of strategic operations across the country.

The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, made the announcement on Thursday during a press briefing in Abuja, detailing the military’s achievements over the past week.

Buba stated that troops targeted terrorist logistics hubs and other facilities tied to insurgent activities, with a focus on dismantling operational capabilities and disrupting terror networks.

“During the week under review:

115 terrorists neutralized

238 suspects arrested

138 kidnapped hostages rescued

“The troops also recovered significant weaponry, including: 145 assorted weapons (including AK-47 rifles, GPMGs, and fabricated rifles) 3,825 rounds of ammunition

Grenades, RPG bombs, and other explosive devices.

“North-East (Operation Hadin Kai):

61 terrorists neutralized

34 suspects arrested

32 kidnapped hostages rescued

“North-Central (Operations Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke):

18 violent extremists neutralized

48 suspects captured

48 kidnapped hostages rescued

“North-West (Operation Hadarin Daji):

28 terrorists killed

77 apprehended

57 kidnapped hostages rescued” He stated.

The military also conducted air interdictions on the hideouts of high-profile terrorist leaders in Katsina State’s Safana and Batsari areas.

Major General Buba revealed that these airstrikes destroyed critical structures and neutralized several insurgents.
