Judge allows Trump to seek dismissal of his criminal charges

Judge Juan Merchan on Friday granted President-elect Donald Trump’s request to file a motion to dismiss the criminal charges against him in New York.

Merchan also removed the sentencing date for the United States President-elect from the schedule.

The trial is related to Trump’s hush money charges brought against him by the New York State.

The judge said Trump lawyers have until December 2 to file their motion for dismissal, while New York prosecutor Bragg has until December 9 to respond.

Merchan also confirmed the stay in sentencing for Trump, which was requested by both Trump’s and Bragg’s attorneys. The sentencing was earlier scheduled for November 26, but Merchan said on Friday that the date was adjourned.
