EPL: Southampton boss confident Onuachu will be fit for Brighton clash

Southampton manager, Russell Martin is optimistic Paul Onuachu will be fit to face Brighton on Friday (today).

Onuachu sustained an injury in the Saints 3-2 home loss to Liverpool last weekend.

There were fears the striker could be set for a long spell on the sidelines but Martin is confident the Nigeria international will be ready for the clash with the Seagulls.

“Paul’s being assessed, so fingers crossed Paul will come through alright,” Martin told reporters.

“It’s not a bad injury at all which is really good news for us, just a niggle so hopefully we can manage that and he can be involved.

Onuachu has made just league appearances for Southampton this season.

The encounter against Liverpool was his first start of the campaign.
