NPFL: Finidi on cloud nine as Rivers United return to summit

Rivers United head coach Finidi George has reacted to his team’s hard-earned victory over Kano Pillars.

Former Flying Eagles midfielder Aniekeme Okon scored the winning goal for the home team.

Rivers United moved back to top position on the table following the win.

Finidi admitted that the visitors made things difficult for his team.

“We are very happy for the victory, which was a difficult game,” Finidi told Rivers United Media.

“In the first half, we created one or two chances, but in the second half, the team was a little bit nervous trying to hold on to the only goal instead of going for the second.

“At the tail end of the game, we pushed back defensively to see how we could preserve the lead.”
