NPFL: Rivers United reclaim top spot, Ikorodu City move to third place

Rivers United returned to the summit of the Nigeria Premier Football League after beating Kano Pillars 1-0 in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

Aniekeme Okon scored the winning goal in the 31st minute.

Rivers United top the standings with 29 points from 15 matches.

Remo Stars dropped to second place after going down to a 2-1 defeat against Niger Niger Tornadoes at the Bako Kontagaro Stadium, Minna.

John Godstime and Papa Daniel scored for Tornadoes in the first half.

Michael Ibe reduced the deficit for Remo Stars in stoppage time.

In Lagos, Ikorodu City moved to third position on the table courtesy of a 4-1 comprehensive win over Akwa United.

Tosin Oyedokun gave Ikorodu City the lead after three minutes. The visitors fought back, with Chijioke Alakwe equalising nine minutes after the break.

Emmanuel Solomon, Ayomide Olatunji and Ayomide Cole scored the other goals for Nurudeen Aweroro’s side.
