2025: 90% of our budget targeted at citizens – Jigawa Govt

Jigawa State Government has said over 90 percent of its 2025 appropriation bill is citizens oriented.

The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Ibrahim Babangida Umar, stated this while briefing newsmen on the 2025 budget estimate.

He explained that over 90 percent of the budget is allocated to needs of the citizens of Jigawa State.

“One of the key process in our budget preparation is inviting citizens to sit and tell the government what kind of project they want government to execute, there is nothing in the budget which is not the citizens’s oriented,” the commissioner said.

Media Talk Africa reported that Governor Umar Namadi has presented an appropriation bill of N698.3 billion for 2025 to the House of Assembly for consideration and approval.

The budget tagged ‘Budget of Innovation & Transformation for Greater Jigawa’, superceded the previous year ‘s budget by over 130 percent.

He said 77 percent of the total budget goes to capital expenditure, while 23 percent is for personnel cost and recurrent expenditures.

Education received the largest share with 26.4 percent, while health got 10 percent, which is below the 15 percent stipulated in the Abuja Declaration.
