UCL: Merson singles out three Arsenal players after 3-0 win over Monaco

Arsenal legend, Paul Merson, has hailed three academy players after the team beat Monaco 3-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Bukayo Saka scored twice and provided the assist for the third squeezed in by Kai Havertz.

Saka came through the Hale End Academy, just like Myles Lewis-Skelly who was handed a rare start due to injuries in Arsenal’s back line.

Ethan Nwaneri, another academy product, came on late in the game to replace captain Martin Odegaard.

“There will be a lot of proud people at Arsenal, people involved in the academy,” Merson said on Sky Sports.

“To bring players through like Bukayo Saka, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri, young players playing in the Champions League, especially when you are talking about a team of this magnitude.

“It’s hard to do now so everyone at the club should be proud of themselves.”
