Jigawa Higher Court begins annual recess

The Jigawa State High Court on Monday began its annual recess.

The Jigawa State Chief Judge, Justice Umar M. Sadiq, declared that the courts commenced the recess on Monday, December 16, 2024, and will resume on January 3, 2025.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Director of Protocol and Publicity for the State Judiciary, Abbas Rufa’i Wangara, to Media Talk Africa.

According to the statement: “Section 274 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), and the Legal Notice No. 4 of 2015 declare that the High Court is to observe a Christmas and New Year Court Recess.”

The statement added that the Jigawa State Chief Judge has assigned Justice Muhammed El-Usman to serve as the Christmas and New Year Recess Judge. Justice El-Usman will sit at the High Court Complex in Dutse.

The statement further noted that the High Court will resume office on January 6, 2025.
