NiMet predicts 3-day dust haze from Wednesday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet, has predicted dust haze from Wednesday to Friday across the country.

NiMet’s weather outlook released on Tuesday in Abuja envisaged moderate dust haze on Wednesday with visibility range from 2Km to 5km in the northern region.

The agency said localised visibility of less than or equal to 1km is expected throughout the forecast period.

According to the agency, the North central and the inland areas of the South are expected to be in moderate dust haze with visibility range from 2km to 5km and localised visibility of less than or equal to 1km throughout the forecast period.

It said early morning fog or mist is expected over the coastal areas of the country while moderate dust haze with visibility range from 2Km to 5Km is expected over the region during the afternoon period.

NiMet envisaged moderate dust haze on Thursday in the northern region with visibility range of 2km to 5km throughout the forecast period.

It anticipated the North central and inland of the South to experience moderate dust haze with visibility range from 2 Km to 5km during the forecast period.

NiMet added that a hazy atmosphere is anticipated over the coastal parts of the country throughout the forecast period.

For Friday in the northern region, NiMet stated that dust haze is expected throughout the forecast period.

The agency said that the North central and inland of the South should experience moderate dust haze with visibility range from 2km to 5km during the forecast period.

It further stated that hazy atmosphere is expected over the coastal parts of the country throughout the forecast period

The agency urged the public to take necessary precautions as dust particles are in suspension.

According to NiMet, people with asthmatic health conditions and other respiratory issues should be cautious of the present weather condition.

It also advised airline operators to get airport-specific weather reports (flight documentation) from NiMet for effective planning in their operations.
