EPL: He leads by example – Sheringham tells Man Utd one signing to make for Amorim

Former Manchester United striker Teddy Sheringham has named Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice as the player the Red Devils should sign for their manager, Ruben Amorim.

Sheringham described Rice as a proper player who leads by example, adding that the England midfielder would be a “statement” signing for Amorim.

“I said a couple of years ago, Manchester United should have got Declan Rice,” Sheringham told Genting Casino.

“If they went out and bought Declan Rice off Arsenal, that’d make me laugh because that’d obviously make Arsenal weaker and make United even stronger.

“He’s a proper player who leads by example. That’s the type of player you need in your football club.

“When you’re making a statement about a new manager coming in and buying new players, that is the type of player you buy. Declan Rice all day.”

Rice joined Arsenal from Premier League side West Ham United in 2023.
