‘We’ll fight hard to escape relegation’—Akwa United

Akwa United assistant coach, Umar Abdullahi, has urged the players to redouble their efforts as they bid to escape relegation.

The Promise Keepers currently sit at the bottom of the table with 16 points.

Abdullahi also described the team’s poor performance this season as “strange.”

“This is very strange, and the players will have to redouble their efforts to ensure we pick up the pieces and restore the club to its pride of place on the log,” Abdullahi said.

The Uyo-based club is winless in their last three league games.

They are set to face Heartland in their next match on Monday.
