EPL: Why we beat Man City – Aston Villa coach, Unai Emery

Aston Villa coach, Unai Emery has suggested that his team defeated Manchester City 2-1 in the Premier League on Saturday because his players played ‘fantastic’.

Emery watched as two goals from Jhon Duran and Morgan Rogers gave Aston Villa all three points against Man City.

Phil Foden scored a late consolation goal for Pep Guardiola’s men.

Speaking at his post-match interview, Emery also thanked Aston Villa supporters for supporting the club to victory against City.

“I’m thankful for our supporters,” Emery said at his post-match interview.

“They are very proud of our work and we need them. How they were here today: supporting us, transmitting their energy, it’s very important for us.

“We have our responsibility to them to try and play with energy, to try to show our capacity, our skills, our intensity.

“Manchester City are a very difficult team and I think we played fantastic. We played with 11 players – 12 with our supporters. We’re very proud and thankful of them.”
